Abstract
Abstract Whether the relative gain array (RGA) can be used to reliably predict sensitivity with respect to uncertainty is of significant practical importance for resilient process design and process control. The theory basis seems to link the RGA to the minimal Euclidean condition number (MECN). This paper will derive an equality relation for 2×2 and 3×3 processes and an inequality for systems with dimension 4. The conjecture of Nctt and Manousiouthakis (1987) is theoretically clarified, and a numerical example is constructed to check our results.
