Abstract

For at least 50 years, aneurysm diameter has been the single most-commonly used variable in the management of aortic aneurysm disease. Maximum aortic diameter determines whether the aorta is truly aneurysmal or simply ectatic. It is the primary determinant of when we proceed with elective repair. It has implications for sizing in aortic endografting. And it has effects on life expectancy even after aortic aneurysm repair. What else does maximum aneurysm diameter tell us?
