Abstract

Transport of sodium and potassium cations has been determined through chloroform liquid membrane containing glycols and glymes as carriers and their stability constants were determined by conductometric method. Thiocyanate was used as anion. K + shows stronger complexing ability than Na + . K + selective ion transport was observed with tetra and diethylene glycol, tetra, tri and diglyme. Na + was transported only with triethylene glycol. Diethylene glycol and diglyme show higher transport values with K + . Glycols show slightly better transport than glymes.
