Abstract
Hydrogels are often used as a powerful tool for topical drug delivery and scaffold in biomedical fields. PEG-based hydrogels are among most studied due to its high biocompatibility, however, they are not technically biodegradable and bioabsorbable. Recent advance in catalysis and monomer synthesis enables now formation of a variety of fictionalized biodegradable polymers in particular using an aliphatic polycarbonate platform, namely PMTC. By using the PMTC platform, a thermoresponsive polycarbonate with tunable amphiphilicity that affords LCST-type reversibility and antimicrobial hydrogels have been developed. In the presentation, both synthetic strategy and evaluation of the hydrogels will be discussed.
