Abstract

This paper presents a comparative analysis of Multi phase Modified Interleaved Buck Converters (MIBC). The performances of a conventional interleaved buck converter, two phase modified interleaved buck converter and three phase modified interleaved buck are compared with the proposed four phase modified interleaved buck converters. The proposed Modified Interleaved Buck Converter (MIBC) has higher step-down conversion ratio and low voltage stresses. This converter is applicable where the input voltage is high and the output voltage is low. The switches are connected in series in the proposed multiphase modified interleaved buck converters along with the coupling capacitors. The converter is working in higher switching frequency and operating duty is below 50% The proposed MIBC results in smaller output current ripple compared to a conventional Interleaved Buck Converter. The converter design, modes of operation, and corresponding simulation results of the proposed multiphase MIBC are presented in this paper. The performance analysis is carried out for a conventional interleaved buck converter, two phase interleaved buck converter, three phase interleaved buck and four phase interleaved buck converters.
