Abstract

Plasma dynamics within and after the laser pulse irradiation at different ambient gas pressures in air were investigated from the laser ablated Al plasma (1064 nm, 15 ns, and 1.8 J/mm 2 ) using an optical streak camera. At 50 and 400 Pa, front positions of the fast moving part fitted well with the Drag model once the laser started. At 1 atm, multiple radiation regions caused by the laser-target ablation and air breakdowns were observed.
