Abstract

Interference is a phenomena communication systems have to live with. It cannot be completely eliminated but measures have to be taken to minimize their effect. Sources of interference are additional mobile in the identical cell, a call in progress in neighboring cell, and other base station (BS) working in the similar frequency band. Interference is a limiting factor in all communication systems since it increases the dropped calls rate in the cellular radio systems which in turn limits these system's capacity and this of course degrades the communication system quality. There a care full attention must be taken to mitigate the effect of interference when considering designing and implementing communication systems. Interference can take one of two forms Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI) or Co-Channel Interference (CCI) or both. To investigate and analyze the performance effect of these two interferences on AWGN and Rayleigh communication channels for data communication. The 16 - Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (16-QAM) technique is considered in this paper since this scheme of modulation is one of the M-ary QAM modulation which has a good performance in wireless frequency bands, and widely used in wireless communication systems. In this work the effect of these interferences is investigated, and simulated on AWGN and Rayleigh. using Simulink.
