Abstract

1. The group chemical composition has been determined of a pyridine extract from a light low-sulfur gas oil from catalytic cracking. It has been established that the extract contains 1.7% normal paraffins, 8,0% isoparaffins and cyclopentane hydrocarbons, 2.6% six-membered naphthenics; 27.0% monocyclic and naphthenic-aromatics and 59.6% bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. 2. It has been found that monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons of the extract are mainly benzene homologs having substituents in the 1,4-, 1,2,4- and 1,2,4,5-positions. 3. In the extract the following have been identified and determined quantitatively: tetralin, naphthalene, 1- and 2- methylnaphthalenes, 1,2-, 1,7- and 2,7-dimethylnaphthalenes. Di- and tri-substituted naphthalenes of undetermined structure have also been found.
