Abstract

Physical and analytical modeling of caved top coal discharge by adjustable feeders on armored face conveyor during underground mining of thick flat seams has been performed. The process of top coal caving is studied using laboratory installation with the feeders operating in wave and areal modes. Based on 3D discrete element method (DEM), gravity flow of coal and its interaction with the powered roof support unit is modeled numerically.
