Abstract

The indoor thermal environment of the first passive house in Harbin in the severe cold region of China was investigated, which applied heating system coupled ceiling radiant with displacement ventilation. The field investigation results indicated an overheating problem during heating period. To reduce the indoor air temperature, the effect of ceiling heating combined with displacement ventilation on thermal indoor environments was studied by means of CFD. A model of a living room in the passive house was established and validated by the field measured data. Based on the validated model, five cases with different ceiling surface temperatures (CSTs) and supply air temperatures (SATs) were simulated. When the CST was set at 24℃ combined with the SAT of 20℃, the indoor temperature was close to the lower comfort limit temperature of 20℃ to achieve a more comfortable environment with less energy consumption.
