The purpose of these studies is to engage students in monitoring habitats, registering the presence and the number of surviving populations or individual specimens of rare wild vascular plant species in the Lipetsk region. The article uses such methods as analysis, synthesis and generalization, historical and genetic, comparative. They allowed us to highlight the main thing from the scientific narrative, summarize the research material and compare the results obtained during the experiment. Students majoring in pedagogical education successfully coped with the tasks of monitoring plants using a new method. Based on the data collected by the students, the tendency to the reduction of the number of rare species of vascular flowering plants in the Lipetsk region was confirmed. When searching for plants, it is advisable to form a group of two students. Searching for plants from photos using measuring tools and maps allows the student not only to learn lost-proofing, but also to remember a significant number of plants, collect valuable material for analytical work and get practical aspects of environmental education.
