Abstract

Dear Editor: Ventricular access devices (VADs), such as Ommaya, Rickham and Mc-Comb reservoirs, are often used in premature neonates with intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH), as a temporary measure for CSF aspiration, until the neonate is fit for a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt [1, 2]. Intraventricular migration of a VAD is an extremely rare complication, due to the large size of the reservoir compared to the bony opening. Only three cases have been reported [3–5]. We hereby present a case of an intracranial VAD migration that occurred several years following VAD placement.
