Intranet System: A Solution for Interaction, Transformation and Submission the Information

Abstract

The World Wide Web helped tremendously to the business and corporate world by providing the information to the customers, stake holders, employees and business partner in easy accessible form with minimum financial burden. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become the backbone for any organisation and play very important role for sharing and accessing the information efficiently. Intranet is an internal organisational network that can provide access to data across the organisation. It uses existing organisational network infrastructure with Internet connectivity standard and software developed for the World Wide Web. Intranet is known as private network which is accessible only to organisation staff. In present ICT era, Intranet plays as the nervous and circulatory system for any organisation for supporting and information flow. The Intranet play vital role for internal communication among the staff using a single and easy user interface. We can easily add new information as and when required. This article describes about the functioning and benefits of the in-house developed Management Information System (MIS) integrated Intranet system wh ich developed with the aim to provide the information efficiently and easy way to the CWPRS employees/divisions within CWPRS LAN. This Intranet system encompasses various modules/functions which are accessed by the employees, management and various division/section. This intranet system has been successfully implemented in CWPRS Local Area Network (LAN) and usedfor accessing and submission of the various MIS information Viz. Personal information, Salary, GPF, Income Tax, Leave Accounting, Stock Inventory, Telephone directory, etc. This MIS information is stored and retrieved from centralised oracle database. This efficient, accurate and faster information access with a single click, provide tremendous helps to the management for making the decision as well as employees to get their own MIS information using user id and password.
