Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy of intra-aortic balloon pump ( IABP ) combined with percutaneous coronary intervention ( PCI ) for patients with acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction complicated with cardiogenic shock. Methods Among 32 patients with acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction complicated with cardiogenic shock who underwent PCI,20 patients received IABP before PCI ( IABP gronp ) and 12 received no IABP ( control group ).Left ventricular ejective fraction was observed immediately and 2 weeks after PCI in the two groups. Results Two weeks after the procedure, heart function was significantly improved in IABP group [( 37.4 ± 7.1 ),( 45.4 ± 7.3 )]and the control group[ ( 36.8 ± 6.7 ),( 40.5 ± 6.2 )],as compared with that detected immediatedly after the procedure ( P< 0.05 ).Heart function improved more significantly in IABP group than in the control group [( 45.4 ± 7.3 )vs.( 40.5 ± 6.2 ),P < 0.05].Conclusions IABP combined with PCI can effectively improve postoperative left ventricular ejective fraction in patients with acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction complicated with cardiogenic shock.
