Abstract
An intraepidermal variant of eccrine poroma is described. The clinical picture is not diagnostic, resembling that of seborrhoeic warts or Bowen's disease. Histopathologically, the lesions consist of foci of sharply demarcated tumor nests which are characterized by uniform cellular features. The enzymatic reaction pattern was of a ductal eccrine type and identical with that of eccrine poroma. The histogenesis of this adnexal tumor was traced to the intraepidermal portion of the sweat duct, and the designat: on “intra-epidermal eccrine poroma” was chosen. Thus, the spectrum of sweat duct tumors comprises three variants: eccrine poroma, intra-epidermal eccrine poroma and dermal duct tumor.
