Abstract

: Barry M. Straube, MD, director of the Office of Clinical Standards and Quality and chief medical officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), oversees the CMS quality policy portfolio, including national coverage policies and quality standards for Medicare and Medicaid; quality measurement and public reporting; and the Quality Improvement Organization Program. Straube is senior advisor to the administrator on clinical and scientific policy. He received an AB degree from Princeton University and an MD degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed an internal medicine residency at California Pacific Medical Center and served as a renal fellow at Tufts University-New England Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
