Intervening in the Problem of Disproportionate Representation in the Identification of the Gifted: A Systematic Review Study
Introduction: Identification is a systematic selection process designed to enable gifted individuals access educational opportunities they need. Countries have their own unique gifted identification systems that they use to select these individuals for educational programs. However, despite many different intervention methods, due to socio-economic, racial, and regional factors some groups are still underrepresented or disproportionately overrepresented in the identification system. Solutions for these problems continues to be a current issue in the literature.Method: This study examined intervention methods that address disproportionate representation among groups that differ in key characteristics in gifted education, following the PRISMA method. To do so, we conducted a literature review between November 2024 and January 2025 using the Web of Science, Scopus, ERIC, ProQuest, TR Dizin, DergiPark, and YÖK Thesis databases.Findings: Although we imposed no year restrictions because of the narrow scope of the search, the retrieved studies spanned 1988–2024. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, we ultimately included 14 studies in the analysis. We organized these studies into four themes: (a) interventions that change the identification system, (b) staff-training interventions, (c) interventions that support disadvantaged students, and (d) multi-method interventions.Discussion: Upon examining the findings, we consider that, in order to solve the problem of disproportionate representation, the identification system must first be changed, and all factors included in the identification process (e.g., staff, family, environmental conditions, etc.) must be updated within the framework of the changed identification system. At the same time, we suggest that this topic, which is frequently addressed in the international literature, should also be addressed from a Turkish perspective.

Cross-docking is a supply chain distribution and logistics strategy for which less-than-truckload shipments are consolidated into full-truckload shipments. Goods are stored up to a maximum of 24 hours in a cross-docking terminal. In this chapter, we build on the literature review by Ladier and Alpan (2016), who reviewed cross-docking research and conducted interviews with cross-docking managers to find research gaps and provide recommendations for future research. We conduct a systematic literature review, following the framework by Ladier and Alpan (2016), on cross-docking literature from 2015 up to 2020. We focus on papers that consider the intersection of research and industry, e.g., case studies or studies presenting real-world data. We investigate whether the research has changed according to the recommendations of Ladier and Alpan (2016). Additionally, we examine the adoption of Industry 4.0 practices in cross-docking research, e.g., related to features of the physical internet, the Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems in cross-docking methodologies or case studies. We conclude that only small adaptations have been done based on the recommendations of Ladier and Alpan (2016), but we see growing attention for Industry 4.0 concepts in cross-docking, especially for physical internet hubs.

This scoping review aimed to examine oral feeding issues and intervention methods in children with ASD based on domestic and international literature. A total of 26 domestic papers and 378 international papers were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. From the selected papers, oral issues and intervention methods for children with ASD were summarized. Through a review of domestic and international literature, it is evident that reduced acceptance of food due to sensory issues is the primary oral issue in children with ASD. Various behavioral and ABA interventions have been identified as intervention methods in the domestic and international literature. In the future, it will be necessary to expand the number of intervention subjects to ensure reliable results and generalize the intervention methods. Additionally, it is important to explore other methods that were not covered in this study and apply intervention methods in clinical practice.

This study presents a systematic review that addresses the didactics of Green Chemistry in the field of chemistry education, and its main goal is to explore the implications of education in Green Chemistry in response to growing environmental concerns. To carry this out, three databases were reviewed—Dialnet, Web of Science, and Scopus—using the PRISMA method and inclusion and exclusion criteria were established. Articles from journals from the last 6 years, in English or Spanish, that addressed the didactics of Green Chemistry at any educational level, and that offered free access to the whole text, were included; studies that did not specifically focus on the didactics of Green Chemistry or that addressed topics not pertinent to the goals of this review, as well as textbooks, laboratory guides, and other educational resources, were left out. The Boolean operators “AND” and “OR” were used with respective keywords, in both English and Spanish, in the different databases to see with which combinations the greatest number of studies fitting the proposed goals were obtained. Finally, 13 of the 695 articles initially selected were included and analyzed (Dialnet: 146; Web of Science: 330; Scopus: 219). The results show how Green Chemistry can play a fundamental role as a learning strategy to promote sustainable development and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals established in the 2030 Agenda.

Specific phobia is defined as a notable and continuous fear of a certain object or a situation that particularly impairs daily life and functioning. It is also one of the most common psychological disorders. Exposure-based interventions are commonly used in the treatment of specific phobias. However, some limitations of the standard methods require the need for alternative approaches. In light of this, the use of virtual reality technology in psychotherapy has become increasingly widespread in recent years and is now integrated with exposure therapy. Virtual reality provides real-time interaction using the computer-generated three-dimensional environment via variety oftechnological tools. Applications of virtual reality in exposure therapy have proven to be an important intervention method, especially in the psychopathologies such as specific phobias. In this study, virtual reality exposure therapy for the treatment of specific phobias is systematically reviewed. Inclusion criteria were taken into account in the scanning performed in APA (PsycINFO), EBSCO, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, Ulakbim ve TRDizin databses following the PRISMA method. Following that, ten randomized controlled trials, which included adult participants meeting the diagnostic criteria for specific phobia, examined the efficacy of virtual reality and exposure therapy compared to the control group, and the ones with full text could be accessed, were included in this systematic review. The included studies were evaluated in terms of sample attributes, primary measurement tools, research design, characteristics of the intervention and its efficacy. In general, the findings indicate the efficacy of virtual reality exposure therapy in reducing specific phobia symptoms. Follow-up studies support the long-term maintenance of the results.

The objective of this paper is to develop a computer aided system for leaf medicinal plant identification using ProbabilisticNeural Network. In Indonesia only 20-22% of medicinal plants have been cultivated. Generally, identification process of medicinalplants has been done manually by a herbarium taxonomist using guidebook of taxonomy/dendrology. This system is designed to helptaxonomist to identify leaf medicinal plant automatically using acomputer-aided system. This system uses three features of leaf toidentify the medicinal plant, i.e., morphology, shape, and texture. Leaf is used in this system for identification because easily to find.To classify medicinal plant we used Probabilistic Neural Network. The features will be combined using Product Decision Rule (PDR).The system was tested on 30 species medicinal plant from Garden of Biopharmaca Research Center and Greenhouse Center of Exsitu Conservation of Medicinal Indonesian Tropical Forest Plants, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agriculture University, Indonesia.Experiment results showed that the accuracy of medicinal plant identification using combination of leaf features increase until74,67%.The comparative analysis of leaf features has been performed statistically. It showed that shape is a dominant features for plant identification. This system is very promising to help people identify medicinal plant automatically and for conservation and utilization of medicinal plants.

Strategic leadership is a critical issue for school leaders. Over the past few decades, strategic leadership studies in fields other than education have been implemented, but there is still a lack of studies related to strategic leadership in education. The purpose of this systematic literature review (SLR) is to provide a comprehensive overview of research related to strategic leadership in Malaysia, identifying any gaps in the literature as a reference for future research. This study was conducted systematically and the review was based on the PRISMA (Reporting Standards for Systematic Evidence Synthesis) method. This study selected articles using two leading databases, namely Scopus and Web of Science, and one supporting database, Google Scholar. A systematic review process, eligibility and exclusion criteria, review process steps (identification, screening, eligibility) and data analysis were conducted. The results show that there is limited literature on strategic leadership and from the literature there are three primary dimensions that are stated from a throughout the school and educational institutions viewpoint in Malaysia: (i) mission, vision and values, (ii) futuristic thinking skills, and (iii) leading a change strategy. Further research is also expected to develop a strategic leadership model of teacher leaders in the Malaysian context. This is important to expand research related to strategic leadership in a more complex way to gain a better understanding of this construct especially in Malaysia.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system is a new communication technology to identify the objects using electromagnetic waves. The main superiority of RFID systems in comparison with other identification systems, such as barcodes, is its ability in simultaneous identification process, but when more than one tag wants to communicate with the reader, collision problem occurs and wastes time and increases energy consumption. This reduces efficiency of the identification process in RFID systems. Collision problem happens when the reader has to identify more than one tag at the same time. Consequently, it is essential to develop an efficient anti-collision algorithm to save the time and energy and increase the performance of the system. In this paper, after investigating the previous works on ALOHA-based anti-collision algorithms, a new anti-collision algorithm is presented to improve the DFSA ALOHA-based anti-collision algorithms. Evaluation of the ALOHA-based algorithms and simulation of the results illustrate that presented work recognizes the tags more efficiently by reducing the number of time slots.

The quality of animal identification system plays an important role for producers to make management decisions about their herd or individual animals. The animal identification is also important to animal traceability systems to ensure the integrity of the food chain. Usually, recordings and readings of tags-based systems are used to identify an animal, but only effective in eradication programs of national disease. Recently, animal biometric-based solutions, e.g. muzzle imaging system, offer an effective and secure, and rapid method of addressing the requirements of animal identification and traceability systems. In this paper, we present an identification system based on muzzle images. The identification process is based on Support Vector Machine (SVM), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Tucker Tensor Decomposition. This selected classifiers we compared on the same dataset of muzzle images with different experiment settings. The results we evaluated by F-score. The best F-score result gives us the Tucker Tensor Decomposition. It achieved the median of F-score 0.750.

Introdução: Com o crescimento no número de idosos, a demência surge como uma das consequências das doenças crônico-degenerativas mais impactantes na funcionalidade de idosos. Objetivos: Descrever os instrumentos mais utilizados em estudos de avaliação da funcionalidade de idosos com demência. Materiais e métodos: Realizou-se uma revisão sistemática de artigos que abordavam o presente assunto entre os anos de 2009 e 2014 nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol. As bases de dados exploradas foram: SciELO, LILACS, Banco de Teses da CAPES, PubMed, Web of Science, PsycINFO e Scopus. Para o processo de identificação e seleção dos artigos encontrados nas bases de dados, utilizou-se o método PRISMA. Resultados: Foram identificados 62 instrumentos diferentes que avaliam a funcionalidade de idosos com demência, e nesse sentido houve a necessidade de destacar apenas os mais frequentes. O critério de inclusão nos resultados foi inserir apenas os instrumentos encontrados em mais de quatro estudos. Dentre os mais utilizados foram identificados seis instrumentos, os quais corroboram os encontrados por outras revisões sistemáticas recentes. Conclusão: Encontrou-se que a Escala de Atividades Instrumentais de Vida Diária de Lawton e Brody, o Índice de Katz, o Questionário de Atividades Funcionais de Pfeffer, o DAD, o Índice de Barthel e o ADCS-ADL são os instrumentos mais utilizados na avaliação da funcionalidade de idosos com demência.

Objective: To analyze scientific publications on bipolarity and schizophrenia to detect both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatments that have been applied in the last five years (2018-2022). Method: A quantitative method was applied, under the bibliometric research approach. The PRISMA method was used for this purpose. The search variables and the construction of the equations with their respective Booleans were defined. The database used was the Web of Science (WOS). After filtering by applying exclusion and inclusion criteria, a total of 23 documents were obtained for analysis.

In recent years, the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) to revolutionize vocational education has garnered significant attention, offering innovative solutions to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This systematic literature review aims to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities related to the implementation of AR in vocational training over the past decade. The data utilized in this study were sourced from articles published between 2014 and 2024, extracted from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases to ensure comprehensive and high-quality coverage. The PRISMA method was applied to guarantee a transparent and reproducible process, consisting of several stages: identifying relevant studies, filtering based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, assessing study quality, and extracting data. Following the PRISMA protocol, 67 research papers were initially identified, and after multiple stages of refinement, 24 papers were selected for detailed analysis. The findings indicate that Augmented Reality (AR) can enhance engagement and learning effectiveness in vocational education. However, its implementation is still hindered by limitations in infrastructure and the need for improved teacher training. To fully harness the potential of AR, further research is essential to develop more inclusive pedagogical models and support the integration of AR into vocational education curricula

The study analyzes the impact of disruptive technologies on marketing in Latin American organizations, highlighting their ability to transform business strategies through tools such as Big Data, IoT, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). These technologies make it possible to personalize services, optimize operations and improve interaction with customers in a competitive environment. The main objective was to examine the adoption of these technologies in Latin America, identifying key factors affecting their implementation and proposing strategies to optimize their integration. The methodology employed was qualitative, based on an exhaustive document review following the PRISMA method. Databases such as Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) were used to identify 868 initial documents, from which, after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 24 relevant studies were selected. In addition, grounded theory was used to analyze the data, categorizing them by means of open, axial and selective coding, which made it possible to identify patterns, trends and gaps in the literature. The main result reveals that, although disruptive technologies offer great opportunities, their implementation in Latin America faces significant challenges, such as socioeconomic inequality, poor technological infrastructure, lack of training in digital skills and inadequate government policies. These factors limit the ability of organizations to take full advantage of these innovations. The main conclusion highlights that overcoming these barriers requires strategic leadership, investment in technological infrastructure, continuous training and an innovation-oriented organizational culture. In addition, it is essential to design public policies that promote technological connectivity and reduce the digital divide. Finally, it is suggested that strategic alliances between companies, academic institutions and governments be fostered to share resources and knowledge, accelerating technological adoption and strengthening the competitiveness of organizations in the global digital environment.

Dealing with the diverse characteristics and learning needs of learners in inclusive learning is one of the main challenges of education today. Teacher competency in inclusive education plays a critical role in addressing these challenges. This systematic review, conducted using the PRISMA method, analyzed literature from Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science (WoS) databases published between 2020 and 2024. A total of 1,237 articles were initially identified, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 21 articles were selected for analysis. The review found that core competencies in professional knowledge, classroom management, and differentiated teaching are essential for effective inclusive education. Positive teacher attitudes toward inclusion and self-efficacy significantly influence the success of inclusive practices, particularly in countries such as Indonesia, Mauritius, and South-Central Vietnam. Challenges identified include insufficient training, large class sizes, and a lack of specialized support, all of which hinder the implementation of inclusive strategies. Recommendations for improving teacher competencies include enhancing collaboration between general and special education teachers, providing ongoing professional development, and integrating technology. The findings emphasize the need for tailored training programs, self-assessment tools like the Self-Assessment of Inclusive Skills (SAIS), and the development of competency-based teacher education (CBTE) models to enhance inclusive teaching practices.

Objective: The literature review revealed that reading difficulties represent a significant textual barrier, affecting students' cognitive abilities. The evolution of AI tools, from rule-based approaches to Transformer models, demonstrates the potential to overcome the limitations of manual simplification, particularly in the Brazilian context, where the lack of accessible educational resources is acute. Theoretical Framework: Following the PRISMA method, the review analyzed eight original scientific articles, published between 2020 and 2025, from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO and Google Scholar. Method: Following the PRISMA method, the review analyzed eight original scientific articles, published between 2020 and 2025, from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO and Google Scholar. Results and Discussion: The results indicate a consensus on the effectiveness of AI models based on Transformer architecture in reducing the linguistic complexity of texts. It was found that simplification through AI improves readability, reading comprehension, and student motivation. The two central axes of the studies analyzed resulted in the superiority of models adapted (fine-tuned) to specific contexts and the critical trade-off between simplification and preservation of linguistic accuracy, highlighting the indispensable role of the teacher as a pedagogical mediator. Research Implications: The research highlights AI as a facilitating tool for educational inclusion, but highlights the need to overcome challenges related to infrastructure, teacher training, and long-term research development in classroom settings. Originality/Value: This review reports recent and specific evidence on the educational application of AI in the challenging context of basic education, highlighting the importance of personalization and collaboration between technology and teacher knowledge for inclusive education.

This study was conducted in order to systematically examine the researches about authentic leadership in health employees, to determine the target groups and the concepts related to authentic leadership. Prisma method was used in this study. Researches on authentic leadership were obtained by Scopus and ISI Web of Science (WOS) databases. Studies with the words authentic leadership, health and nurse in the title were scanned. A total of 101 studies have been reached. Dublicate publications, studies whose publication language was not English, whose full text could not be accessed, samples of which were not health employees and without research articles were excluded from the study, and as a result, 42 studies were evaluated. It was determined that authentic leadership studies, which were examined in line with the inclusion criteria, started to be carried out since 2009.The survey method was used in most of the studies and the research design of the studies was planned quantitatively. The samples of more than half of the studies were nurses. Burnout, work engagement, trust, job satisfaction, and turnover intention were concepts associated with authentic leadership. In studies, a negative relationship was found between authentic leadership and burnout, turnover intention; a positive relationship was found between authentic leadership and work engagement, trust and job satisfaction. This study will be a guide for future studies, it is recommended to conduct researches in different healthcare professionals such as physicians, dentists, health administrator and also focus on qualitative studies.KeywordsNurseAuthentic leadershipHealthSystematic analysis
