Abstract

This article gives a "behind-the-scenes" look at Court Theatre's 1999 production of Calderón's Life's a Dream . JoAnne Akalaitis directed the John Barton and Adrian Mitchell adaptation. The translation itself is analyzed, as well as Akalaitis's personal interpretation of the script during the rehearsal process. Photographs of the production are included.
