Abstract
Multiatomic adsorbates may adsorb to produce LEED patterns which are difficult to interpret if different adsorbate species lie on surface nets of different symmetries. This paper discusses a semi-graphical method for analyzing such patterns in the kinematic approximation, and illustrates it with the example of an SnO 2 layer on the Au(111) surface.
