Abstract

Leading design researchers and practitioners founded the International Institute for Energy and Architecture (IIEA) to meet head-on the challenge of a sustainable future. A vehicle for collaboration and exchange, IIEA seeks to improve the quality of habitat for the world's peoples through increased understanding and development of energy-conserving, climate-adaptive architecture and urban design. IIEA research, education, and technical assistance programs, backed by a committed global network, emphasize reliance on natural energy forms and indigenous methods and materials.
