  • Jinyan Tian + 5 more

Currently, domestic energy still depends on carbon as the main source of development. Carbon emissions are inevitably related to economic development. China needs to reach peak carbon emissions as early as possible to achieve economic and industrial transformation. The domestic economy should adapt to the new normal and new trends, so that the carbon peak can be achieved by 2030, thereby promoting green circular and low-carbon development and transformation. In this paper, based on Kaya identity and artificial intelligence algorithm, combined with the changing characteristics of urban carbon emissions in Jilin Province, the LMDI factor decomposition model of carbon emissions in Jilin Province is constructed. Using the basic parameters of GDP, population size, industrial scale, and carbon emissions from 2005 to 2021, the factors of carbon emissions in various cities in Jilin Province were obtained, and three scenarios were set for benchmarks, low carbon emissions, and technological breakthroughs to obtain the rate of change for each driving change. Then, the carbon peak year was finally calculated for each scenario. The conclusions are drawn as follows: 1. The urban factorization results showed that the per capita output effect is the main driving force behind the increase in carbon emissions, while the industrial structure effect and industrial carbon intensity effect has an inhibitory effect on the growth of carbon emissions; 2. The carbon peak years under the three scenarios were 2029, 2027, and 2026 respectively, and carbon emissions will drop rapidly after reaching the peak in the technological breakthrough scenario. This paper provides a reference for Jilin Province in achieving the goal of the carbon peak.
