Abstract

The internationalization of educational institutions is a way of supporting global student citizenship, attracting funding and broadening global reputation. The Rio Grande do Norte Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFRN, in the Portuguese acronym) guides practices focused on internationalization in teaching, outreach activities and applied research in its campuses. This article presents the experience report of the outreach event entitled II Intercultural Meeting of the IFRN Canguaretama Campus, which sought to promote interculturality among the academic community, exchange students and traditional communities in the context of internationalization at home. To maximize results, the event organized by the undergraduate students of the Tourism Management course, was continued by students of the Integrated Technical Course in Events, articulating outreach activities, research and teaching. The participants' satisfaction at the event revealed the importance of developing internationalization actions to stimulate interculturality that at the same time contribute to students' professional education.
