Abstract
Low temperature specific heat measurements of YbH x cubic hydride phase are reported and interpreted in the model of the intermediate valence system with ground state consisting of two narrow quasiparticle bands located at the Fermi level. The band width and the gap values obtained are a function of the hydrogen concentration and they reproduce well the shape of the broad hump observed around 4 K in the temperature dependence of the specific heat.
