Abstract

We describe the development of a walk-through system based on our Interactive movie technique (IMV). Conventional walk-through systems suffer from the following problems: client cost problem, response time problem, and limited scene problem. To solve these three problems, we developed an IMV walk-through system. The IMV system features 1) a high adaptability to the Internet, 2) easy virtual space updating, 3) the accommodation of low-performance client terminals, and 4) a short response time before the start of the service. The IMV architecture is suitable for developing a walk-through system with high interactivity. In this paper, we report a virtual library system using the IMV system.
