Abstract

Liquid Se 2Br 2 is well known to have a strong orientational correlation among the neighbouring molecules. Molecular dynamics of this liquid has been investigated by means of quasi-elastic neutron scattering. The temperature dependence of elastic component of the dynamic structure factor reveals that the dynamic structure consists of two scattering contributions in the wave number region where the first peak in the static structure factor lies. One is the non-correlating inter-molecular term and the other is the orientational correlation between strongly coupled neighbouring molecules.
