Abstract

Advanced manufacturing process like WEDM process is excellently used in recent industrial applications to optimize quality machining using intelligent tools. In this research paper investigates the influence of altered input parameters such as discharge current, pulse on time, pulse off time and servo speed rate of wire electrical discharge machining performances of material removal rate and surface roughness using Box Behnken design used by response surface methodology. Aluminium alloy reinforced with 9 wt. % of activated carbon composite is used to carry out manufacturing process. Most influencing parameters are suggestively subjective by the conductive and non-conductive parameters in wire cut EDM process. Mathematical model established to use analysis of variance and conclude the optimal machining circumstances using particle swarm optimization technique. The ideal WEDM performance of material removal rate and surface roughness are 11.67 mm 3 /min and 3.11μm respectively, using this best machining conditions viz. discharge current 1566mA, pulse on time 15µs, pulse off time 25µs and servo speed rate 150rpm.
