Abstract

In this paper, we evaluate a university student managed fund, Bryant University’s Archway Investment Fund (AIF), from an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) perspective and develop a framework for integration of ESG metrics for the fund. We motivate why ESG issues are especially relevant to a student managed fund and describe efforts to move the fund to becoming ESG conscious. We utilize the ESG ratings and reports from Sustainalytics ( www.sustainaytics.com) . ESG integration begins with the ESG assessment of the fund holdings followed by an analysis of each sector of the fund. We then offer several ways to improve ESG standing of each sector compared to various benchmarks. We leave materiality issues to be taken up in a follow-up study.
