Abstract

This paper is intended to stimulate discussion of potential curriculum developments in order to improve the effectiveness of architectural education, specifically to enhance the relationship between design and “technical” courses. It begins with a synopsis of past attempts to modify architectural curricula in order to meet the demands imposed by the expansion of issues considered germane to a comprehensive professional education. Following this, specific emphasis is given to clarifying the integral and significant connection between technology and architectural design. Finally, several innovative notions of potential curriculum revisions and teaching methods are presented which perhaps can effectively integrate the presentation of technology into the architectural curriculum.
