Abstract
Abstract The emissions of greenhouse gases and their potential impact on climate change are more than just a debate on the scientific uncertainties; it is perhaps the dominant public policy issue as we begin this century. Issues of international interests, economics, energy technology and public perception drive the complexity of the climate change issue for businesses and industries. Since 1997, Texaco has compiled comprehensive annual emissions inventories of its worldwide operations and interests. In 1999, Texaco made a further public commitment to integrate greenhouse gas emissions management into Texaco's business planning processes. This paper describes Texaco's process of integrating greenhouse gas emissions management into the planning of new projects and strategic business thinking.
