Abstract

Cache management has strong impact on database query performance. Literature survey has shown, tuning the database cache may improve performance significantly. Materialization of intermediates in database cache plays vital role in improving the response time. We propose an enhancement to a column store database structure by building additional intelligence in the form of an adaptive and efficient query cache, called KPCS (Keep Pool Column Store). The proposed algorithm is evaluated against the TPC-H schema to demonstrate effectiveness in terms of significant performance gains. 
