Abstract

The peculiar system of governance implemented at Tsinghua University in Beijing during the late years of the Cultural Revolution is examined. Because the radicals stridently championed the Cultural Revolution slogans about curbing the bureaucratic power of Party Officials, it is of particular interest to examine how they organised power in an institution where they held sway.
