Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is used as staple food for more than 50% of the world's population. Drought has become a major challenge for the rice breeders world wide. The objective is to develop drought tolerant high yielding rice varieties. The root morphology and physical characteristics are reported to associate them with drought tolerance. This study focuses on analysis of BAC/PAC sequences of root related drought tolerant QTLs of rice. The marker interval sequences were taken from Gramene Marker Database and the BAC/PAC sequences were taken from Pseudomolecule Build 5 available at International Rice Genome Sequencing Project (IRGSP). The sequences were analysed using Batch Primer 3 and were mined for putative primers, classified based on length variation, analyzed for frequency of motifs and aligned to respective Amino Acid Codons.
