Abstract

On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance) was chosen by many French Olympic and Paralympic teams to be their “Base Camp” to prepare for this major competition in the best possible conditions. INSEP is a public scientific, cultural and professional institution (EPSCP), created in 1975, and placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports, the Olympic and Paralympic Games (https://www.insep.fr/fr). INSEP has a medical center (https://www.insep.fr/fr/medical) with 80 people. It manages a health center focused on sports medicine and open to the public. Doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, podiatrists, clinical psychologists, dental surgeons, dental assistants, as well as administrative staff work there. From July 8 to September 8, 2024, access to INSEP was restricted by the Grand Évènement decree in order to become the base camp for the French teams. For the Olympic Games, 16 federations, or 26 disciplines, wanted to come. For the Paralympic Games, 7 federations, or 13 disciplines, also came forward. During this period, Olympic and Paralympic athletes, training partners, as well as the medical and technical staff supervising them were welcomed.
