Abstract
Plastic optical alignment sleeves for singlemode connection were successfully fabricated by the thermoset injection moulding process. The split sleeves exhibit excellent dimensional accuracy (± 2 µm) and have extremely smooth surfaces (Ra < 0.1 µm). They are compatible with SC-type connectors and the average optical loss is < 0.1 dB for singlemode SC plugs.
