Abstract

The induction of hepatic tyrosine transaminase by enzymatic casein hydrolysate was inhibited when SKF 525-A, chlorpromazine, imipramine, or promethazine was injected simultaneously with casein hydrolysate. The induction of the enzyme by insulin was inhibited by the simultaneous injection of SKF 525-A, chlorpromazine, or imipramine. No inhibition of induction by casein hydrolysate or insulin was observed when SKF 525-A or centrally acting drugs were injected two hours after the inducing agent. The action of SKF 525-A and the centrally acting drugs on the induction of tyrosine transaminase by casein hydrolysate and insulin was shown to be similar to that of actinomycin D.
