Abstract

A yellow‐leaf character in sugarbeet (Beta vulgaris L.) was conditioned by a single recessive gene. A genetic pollen fertility restorer in CMS plants, observed in the yellow‐leaf material, was found to be inherited as a single dominant gene. Linkage tests showed that yellowleaf (yl) was independent of monogerm (m), annual growth habit (B), and the restorer gene (Rf3).
