Abstract

The effect of the B site species in ABO3 perovskite oxides was investigated by infrared analysis. Cathode materials such as Sr-doped LaMO3 (M=Co, Yb, Gd) were synthesized with the sol-gel method. The O–H stretching vibration was observed in the ranges of 2800-3800 cm-1 (band A and band B) due to Sr‒OH‒La and 1800-2500 cm-1 (band C and band D) due to Sr‒OH‒Sr. The O–H stretching vibration could be found in the band A, band B, and band C in the proton conducting material La0.9Sr0.1YbO3-δ, and La0.9Sr0.1GdO3-δ. On the other hand, only band C could be observed in oxide ion conducting material La0.9Sr0.1CoO3-δ. It is indicated that protons difficulty dissolved into oxide ion conducting material.
