Abstract

The properties of field invariants (ellipticity, intensity, total phase, and rotation angles of the polarization ellipse) for 3- and 4-beam 2D configurations are examined. In the sub-Doppler cooling approximation, the structure of the radiation force and diffusion tensor resolved into spatial gradients of field invariants is presented. The atomic dynamics is modeled numerically based on the Langevin equation. The dependence of the spatial structure of field invariants on the spatial structure of the atomic lattice is demonstrated on examples of specific models.
