Abstract

1. The peculiarities of the initial step of the process of formation and lengthening of the system of effective conjugation in systems of polyacrylonitrile (PAN), differing in content of isotactic and syndiotactic structures, were studied with the aid of the fluorescence spectra. 2. The presence of isotactic sequences in the chain of PAN creates the most favorable conditions for the formation of polyconjugated systems. Therefore, a large content of isotactic structure induces the growth of longer blocks of effective conjugation in PAN, produced by radiation polymerization in channel complexes of urea (PAN-C), in comparison with PAN produced with a redox system as initiator (PAN-R). 3. The kinetic data in the temperature interval 150–200° indicate that the rate of lengthening of the system of conjugated bonds in PAN-C is considerably higher than in PAN-R. 4. The values of the effective activation energy, as well as the changes in the entropy and enthalpy of the process of increase in the system of effective conjugation in polymers differing in content of the isotactic structure, were calculated.
