Abstract

In this study, the effect of strain rate and temperature over the ultimate stress and ultimate strain of the FeNi precipitate has been analyzed through molecular dynamics simulation. Because, the temperature and strain rate has a dominant effect over the tensile characteristics of intermetallic precipitates which leads to tailor the tensile characteristics of any material. In this study the simulation process is carried out under various strain rate and temperature to analyze its influence over the FeNi precipitate characteristics and its bonding strength. Through the above study, it is stated that temperature has a higher influence over the FeNi precipitate followed by the Strain rate effect, owing to the increment in kinetic energy of Fe and Ni atoms which lead to invoke superior reduction in tensile characteristics of FeNi precipitate. Additionally, it is stated that increment in temperature and strain rate have dominant effect over the Fe-Fe, Fe-Ni and Ni-Ni bonding strength which leads to offer reduction in fatigue life.
