Abstract

Phase mask writing method is a common method for fiber grating fabrication. According to the near-field diffraction theory, the influence of incident angle on the diffraction field is analyzed when the UV laser light is obliquely incident on the phase mask. Based on the coupled-mode theory of inclined grating, the transmission matrix method is used to analyze the influence of incident angle of UV laser light on the spectral characteristics of the grating. The calculation results show that the incident angle increases and the center reflection wavelength of the gratings shifts to the longer wavelength, meanwhile the reflectivity decreases. To ensure that the grating wavelength drift less than 0.2nm, the incident angle should be controlled less than 0.92 degrees.
