Abstract

Exfoliated graphite was obtained by thermal treatment at temperatures of 600, 800, 1000 °C of expandable graphite based on graphite bisulfate of I, II, III and IV stages. The aim of this work is to study the influence of stage number and exfoliation temperature on macrostructure and microstructure of exfoliated graphite. The delamination of expandable graphite particle is observed with decreasing stage number of initial graphite bisulfate. The obtaining of exfoliated graphite is accompanied by formation of graphite cellular structure. The dependence of crystallite size along c axis of exfoliated graphite on stage number and exfoliation temperature was investigated. Crystallite size is reduced both with decreasing stage number of initial graphite bisulfate and with increasing exfoliation temperature.
