Abstract

The article deals with the numerical modeling of steel welded supporting components using commercial software system ANSYS, which is based on the finite element method - FEM. The results of numerical analysis are compared and checked with the results of physical verification test, in which the real behavior of the welded joint in bearing element is observed. The paper is also focused on the influence of geometrical imperfections on the resulting stress-strain behavior of the specimen. The results of the experiment are also used for calibration of the computational model under discussion.
