Abstract
Abstract—In changing the composition of coking batch, it is expedient also to ensure effective operation of the benzene department, both in terms of the production of commercial phenolic hydrocarbons and in order to maintain normal operation of the coke batteries’ heating system. In assessing the fresh absorbent oil used to replenish the circulating oil, not only its operational characteristics must be taken into account but also its influence on the performance of the absorbent already in the system. The introduction of low-molecular components in the circulating absorbent oil intensifies the extraction of hydrogen sulfide from the coke-oven gas in the benzene department. In selecting the composition and properties of the circulating absorbent oil, the operation of the specific benzene system and the overall gas channel must be taken into account.
