Abstract

Elastic plate deformation in an open channel is numerically studied at Reynolds no (Re) = 100. The plate deformation is controlled by a bluff-body located in front of the flexible plate and plate deformation also influence by the pulsatile flow. An in-house flow-induced solver is employed to simulate plate deformation and also studied the influence of pulsatile flow and a Bluff-Body bluff body on elastic plate deformation. The amplitude of plate deformation and the frequency of the plate tip oscillation are calculated by FFT analysis which is affected by the bluff body and pulsatile flow. Y-tip of the elastic plate varying with time and the plate vibration frequency are affected by the vortex shedding, which is controlled by the bluff body. The results suggest that the dynamic behavior of the plate alters by pulsatile flow as well as a bluff body, which is useful for the energy harvesting device as well as modifies the plate deformation.
