Abstract
The authors determine the general influence of the medium and cyclic loading parameters on the crack growth rate in metals under conditions of the formation of protective film. A quantitative model is constructed which predicts the influence of various factors on the crack growth rate in metals. In order to obtain information on crack growth rate sufficient for prediction of service life with arbitrary loading parameters in a specified medium, the author makes a set of experiments limited in volume.
