Abstract

Specific heats of La 0.7Ca 0.3MnO 3 annealed in oxygen and in argon were studied. It was found that the sample annealed in oxygen had higher specific heat than that of in argon. It is found the change on specific heat was due to be mainly attributed to the ferromagnetic spin-wave and charge carrier contributions. Heat treatment in oxygen induced oxygen concentration increment, enhancing the ferromagnetic double exchange interaction between Mn 3+ and Mn 4+. The interaction may also affect the specific heat associating with ferromagnetic spin-wave and charge carrier.
