Abstract
In a linear formulation, a study is made of the influence of a longitudinally compressed elastic isotropic plate on the nonstationary wave motion of a stream of homogeneous liquid of finite depth on which the plate floats. The waves are generated by periodic (in time) normal stresses applied to a restricted region of the plate surface and beginning at a certain initial time.
