Abstract

China has always attached great importance to the industry self-regulation in Internet governance and has reserved space both in policy and legislation. There are a collection of all kinds of social organizations in China represented by the Internet Society of China(ISC). Those organizations could regulate themselves through various ways, for instance, formulating and implementing the ISC self-regulation norms and conventions, coordinating the relationship and mediating disputes between members, etc. The information sufficiency, timeliness, and inherent advantages of ISC s professional self-regulation mechanism meet the needs of the innovation of the Internet activities. It has contributed a lot to the behavior rules supplying, promoting the formal Internet governance legislation as the trial and error mechanism, forming the sincerity and credit order through a consensus on standards of behavior as well as abiding rules. In the future, the Chinese government will do something in positioning the legal status of autonomous organizations rationally, straightening out the relationship between self-regulation and the other functions as well as fostering good behavior habits and continue to creates effective participating conditions in Internet governance for the ISC.
