Abstract

ABSTRACT A steady-state stability criterion based on the concept of synchronizing torque coefficient is presented for induction machines and various first-order models of small and large induction machines are derived near voltage collapse. In large induction machines, dynamic structural changes occur in the vicinity of voltage collapse, leading to a stronger interaction between speed and voltage variables. Two modified first-order voltage models characterizing the dominant behavior of large induction machines are derived near voltage collapse.
